Origin is a competing Steam platform that lets you buy and play EA titles such as FIFA, The Sims, Battlefield and Medal of Honor online on your computer and mobile. By exploiting the flaw, a criminal could hijack the player's session and gain access to the full collection of purchased games, as well as being able to purchase more games using a registered payment method. The bug can also expose social networking and system accounts like Xbox Live and PlayStation Network in sync.

According to CyberInt, the interest of criminals to take advantage of such flaws lies in marketing the product of deep web theft. Through mass distribution through WhatsApp, a blow to game studios like EA could be very lucrative.

There is still no record of exploitation of the failure until the date of disclosure. However, now that the issue is public knowledge, I need to update Origin on my PC as soon as possible. Users can also enable two-factor authentication to increase account security, in addition to downloading games only through the manufacturer's official tool to avoid being attacked.
