The links between Apple and the esteemed presenter Oprah Winfrey are getting bigger (and more crossed).
In addition to an Apple TV + series on mental health, Apple also launched the “Oprah’s Book Club” (“Oprah Book Club”), an update to the “consulting” section of the Apple platform where the presenter periodically indicated a new book.
Unfortunately, the Oprah Book Club is not available (directly) at the Brazilian book store on Apple Books; still, when searching for “Oprah” in the Books app (Books), it is possible to view (and acquire) the first indication of the presenter, the fiction «The Water Dancer» in Ta-Nehisi Coates.

For the presenter, the partnership goes beyond a project that encourages reading and refers to its own story:
I am that person today because of the experience of learning to read from an early age.
Reading opened up a whole world to me beyond the red dirt road and my grandmother’s porch in Mississippi.
I want to do this for everyone.
And the opportunity to do that with Apple, to talk to people all over the world about the pleasures, the emotion and the tension that a good book can bring you … I don’t know what’s better than that.
Perhaps the most interesting part of this partnership is the fact that Apple will donate part of the value of each book in the selection that is sold to American Library Association, a group that promotes literary education in the US and in several countries, as highlighted by Apple CEO Tim Cook:
Few people in the world can unite us like Oprah, whose compassion and grace in celebrating the power of books is unmatched.
It is our honor to provide a new platform for the Oprah Book Club and to support the American Library Association by opening hearts and minds to the joy of reading.
More than a partnership linked to Apple Books, Oprah will also interview the authors of his Book Club for a new homonymous series on Apple TV +, which will debut on the day the service launch. streaming (November 1).
The program’s first participant was, of course, author Ta-Nehisi Coates, who was interviewed by Oprah in front of the Apple Carnegie Library in Washington (DC).

In addition to the production on mental health, Winfrey also participates in another original Apple series on workplace harassment, which has no set debut date.
