On iOS 11, you can easily share your Wi-Fi network password with friends (who are also on the new system)

If you are in the habit of welcoming friends and family to your home, you have certainly noticed that, in this decade, the question "What is your Wi-Fi password?" have you overtaken old classics like "Give me a glass of water?" or "Where is the bathroom?" as the one that comes out most of the visitors' mouth.

The problem is, if you're like 97% of the population, you certainly didn't even bother to access the router's settings to change that hundred-character password that no one will memorize in a million years. Therefore, every time the ubqua question leaves the mouth of a visitor, you are obliged to get up and go to the router to verify the password and inform the anxious applicant. And, as Homer Simpson would say, nothing that requires more than 12 steps is really worth it but being rude is not an option at that moment.

Well, let's raise our hands: luckily, iOS 11 bring a solution to this which is one of the biggest problems of community life in the 21st century. If you have a device running the newest version of Apple's mobile operating system and your visit is also on iGadget with it, it is possible simply share your Wi-Fi network password without major complications.

The feature somewhat resembles the pairing screen that appears when we open an AirPods case close to the iPhone / iPad in question. When the visitor opens the list of networks and selects the one for their home, the screen asking for the access password appears normally, but a warning just below the field informs that the user can request access to that network simply by bringing the device closer to another iGadget, or even a Mac, which is unlocked and already connected to that same Wi-Fi network.

When approaching the disconnected device, a window popup appears on your iPhone / iPad, saying that device is trying to connect to your network; from there, just touch the button “Send password” for the visitor to get immediate access, without having to touch any button on the keyboard! 😀

It is clear that, considering the very sensitive character with which some treat their password, this resource brings some questions that have not yet been answered. Firstly, such a tool would be a great way to provide temporary access to your network without having to enter the access code (in case you are for some reason concerned that the person will use this information in the future, for example, a profiteering neighbor); we do not know, however, whether the act of granting access to your network causes the password to be saved on the device for future access or anything like that (which should be the case).

Anyway, good to see these small refinements in the system. The eternal laziness within us thanks you.
