When interviewed by JP Morgan analyst Paul Coster, OmniVision executives indicated that they have open negotiations for more advanced cameras to be used in Apple gadgets. Through the conversation, it became clear that major smartphone manufacturers will migrate from 3 megapixel cameras to 5MP models this year, with Apple being one of the potential companies to follow this trend.
In the opinion of Coster, OmniVision is well positioned to provide sensors of such resolution for iPhones and iPods without mentioning clearly whether they will only be nanos or touches too. If that happens, be positive to contribute to the sales of these gadgets.
AOmniVision has stood out in recent months for creating image sensors for handsets that can generate high definition RAW images, in addition to recording videos with similar quality. Not today when they are rumored to be coming to Apple gadgets.
