NVIDIA Launches Quadro FX 4800 for Macs Pro

NVIDIA today announced the availability of the Quadro FX 4800 graphics card for Macs Pro. The high-end model will hit the market in May for $ 1,800.

The NVIDIA Quadro line is designed for high-performance computer analysis and professional 3D visualizations that are ideal for architects, digital artists, medical scientists and the like. The card has no less than 192 graphics cores with 1.5GB of memory, offering a bandwidth of up to 76.8GB per second. It comes with two Dual Link DVI connectors (for 30-inch monitors), in addition to a three-pin mini-DIN for the use of stereoscopic glasses.

The Quadro FX 4800 already supports NVIDIA's CUDA parallel computing technology, which allows it to be used to accelerate complex computational problems. The CUDA precursor to OpenCL, which Apple introduced in the release of Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. The card is also fully compatible with Boot Camp, that is, it works perfectly with three-dimensional software for Windows.
