Now it's the turn of the 15 ″ MacBook Pro to be taken apart by the iFixit – spoiler: the verdict is the same

Two days after publishing the dismantling of the new 13 ″ Touch Bar MacBook Pro, which brought a number of inconvenient truths, the iFixit It's back today this time with the dissection of the bigger brother of Apple's new line of portable computers. That said, in the old "disappointed, but not surprised" feeling, I need to report that the firm's considerations were almost as bad as those of the smaller MBP.

When opening the bottom cover of the new 15 ″ MacBook Pro, you will find an architecture very similar to the 13 inch model: the same internal arrangement of items, same dual ventilation system (here the blades have different design by some same 5-cell battery strongly glued to the chassis, same speakers not positioned exactly below the microperforations beside the keyboard (which, again, are mostly static only) and sound that comes out mostly from the air vents in the lower part.

Disassemble the MacBook Pro 15

One detail is not mentioned in my Wednesday post, but it is present in both the 13 ″ and 15 ″ MBP, an intriguing connector that doesn't go anywhere; It simply exists, l, on the board me. The general suspicion that it would serve to transfer the data from the SSD to an external volume would be useful in case of a logic board failure since, like the storage soldered on the board, a failure in any component would also mean loss of data. Dice. The final answer to this mystery, however, only Apple knows for now.

The 15 ″ MBP also holds your brother's only positive point, which is the easily replaceable trackpad. But here the touch surface is so big (seriously, look at the picture below) that Apple had to put a second Broadcom chip for touch control.

Trackpad of the new MacBook Pro 15

Overall, the machine achieved the same 1/10 score as its little sister, with iFixit pointing out that the only plus point is the trackpad and everything else basically irreparable. Not coolApple not cool.

They also posted a video discussing the changes of this MBP:
