You can make amazing footage with your iPhone, all you have to do is see the short and even full-length movies shot with professional-quality Apple smartphones. Editing clips on your smartphone, on the other hand, is a bit more difficult: yes, we have a number of options, from the in-app editor Photos for basic tasks to robust apps like iMovie and Premiere Clip, but they're complex and can be a hindrance in your filming process.
How about an app, then, that unites the two things recording and editing? This is the proposal of the Nizo.
Created by a team of filmmakers and creative professionals from Australia, the app brings a “holistic” approach to video recording and editing so you basically do it all at the same time in a minimalist, gesture-based interface full of hidden functions.
Upon completion of recording each shot, the clips are available in comic left of the screen; You can tap the comic to enter the editing screen and view the timeline of filmed videos. From there, the control of clips is done by drag-and-drop gestures, with options to duplicate shots, mute them, change their position on the timeline, add transitions or soundtracks, and much more. Issues are non-destructive, so you have the option to undo your actions infinitely.
Nizo also comes with a special filter (which can be turned off, of course) that simulates the look of classic Kodachrome film and shooting options at 24 or 60 frames per second in 4K if you lower the resolution to 1080p, the options are 24 or 120 frames per second. There are also manual controls for white balance, ISO and the lens used (for iPhones that have two, in this case).
