Nike + heart monitor will sync directly with iPod nano pacemaker

iPod nano fitnessWith the fifth generation of iPod nano, Apple has really made unexpected changes. If a good part of them can already be taken advantage of by the lucky buyers of the new model, others have been reserved to meet future plans that Apple has reserved for the product.

Proof of this is the evidence found by theAppleInsider in the latest version of the Nike + iPod user guide, available on the Apple website (PDF, 500KB). With 28 pages, the document has a section that deals with the sync of this feature with controls or heart rate monitors and certifies that the feature's compatibility restricted to iPod nano 5G, released yesterday.

The new Nike + monitor would be released simultaneously with the new iPod, but according to sources close to the AppleInsider, its launch was postponed indefinitely.

One of the possible reasons for the delay in delivery by Nike is its intention to launch an even richer platform for the control and monitoring of data collected in the practice of exercises. Together with Apple, the company is working on projects to allow the synchronization of portable music players with gym equipment, as shown by an Apple patent published a few days ago.

The manual also contains information on the direct synchronization of the pacemaker (or pedometer, or pedometer) internal iPod nano with integrated Nike + software (previously an external transmitter was required), which will be responsible for monitoring the distance traveled, speed, time and also the calories expended during each use.

Yesterday, a support page was posted on the Apple website that details each difference between the Nike + iPod Sport Kit and the pacemaker present in the new iPod nano. For those interested in using these resources, the reading is valid.
