NexPhone – the smartphone that becomes tablet, laptop or PC

NexPhone is one of the most interesting projects in the Android scene I've had contact with lately, the idea has already gone through many heads and is now being developed by the company NexCrea: unite smartphone, tablet, laptop or PC! The idea is to use a smartphone that can be converted into a tablet, a laptop or a PC through an anchor unit – NexDock. That is, all our content is gathered in one device. What makes the project even bigger is that it can be used with OS Android and Ubuntu Linux.

The fact that Ubuntu for Android is a little faded, however, arrives with great force through the concept of NexPhone. Ubuntu is a free and open source platform as easy to use as Windows or Mac. So, using Ubuntu for Android, NexPhone offers a complete PC experience with keyboard, cursor, monitor and Ubuntu operating system, with a hundred of apps for office, photography, video and music.

If we think of a tablet as an extension of a larger screen smartphone, we use it for a better experience with our apps, such as YouTube, for watching videos on a larger screen. Another issue, using the smartphone Internet, makes NexPhone a cheap solution, since it uses the same data plan for both gadgets.

To better understand the NexPhone project, watch the promotional video below:

The idea behind NexPhone comes down to turning any device into a personal computer, wherever you are, by connecting your smartphone to any of these devices – tablet, laptop or PC. As mentioned in the video, you get it all: No syncing, no cloud, no mess.

There are similar projects, like Padfone or KT Spider Concept, but NexPhone looks even more promising. Despite the design with glaring references to Apple devices, the images of the docks and gadgets make a great impression, but of course, they are still just one study.

For this project to come true, NexCrea, creator of the NexPhone, needs approximately $ 950,000, according to the IndieGoGo website. So far, the project has raised $ 1.351 and counting, even if the action is recent, cuts my heart to see such an interesting program as doomed to the world of ideas.

What do you think the project deserves to get off the ground? If this is really the future of smartphones, serving as a mobile brain that reveals all our information, it would be very important for developers to create ways to make it possible.
