New version of the Photos app will detect 7 types of facial expressions and 4,432 searchable objects [atualizado]

Apple didn't announce these numbers anywhere, but a brave Reddit user ironically called vista980622 decided to put his hand on the macOS Sierra code more specifically, the new version of the app Photos and discovered a number of interesting things: the new app will be able to recognize and distinguish 7 different types of facial expressions, as well as 4,432 (!) types of objects for intelligent search. Their findings were detailed in this post on Medium.

Photos of macOS Sierra on a MacBook

According to the user, the application searches all the photos in the library and produces a type of “facial plant” for each detected face, thus being able to recognize seven different expressions: greed, disgust, neutrality, scream, smile, surprise and suspicion.

In addition, the app separates the “Memories” (the new area of the app where the photos automatically divide into separate moments) according to a series of categories, as the explorer discovered. These categories include "memories of areas of interest", "memories that break the routine", "new memories", "birthdays", "trips", "last year" and many others.

Finally, it was also discovered that Fotos will now be able to detect 4,432 different types of objects that will appear in the search. The list is huge, but it goes from basic things like "chocolate" and "beach" to very specific elements like "incandescent lamp" and "Japanese radish".

Another very interesting discovery: although the application cannot distinguish “specific” things, the post exemplifies with the search term “Maho”, a beach in St. Maarten, it manages to discover through an internal dictionary that it is a beach , generate all the beach results in the search and, from a catalog of references, return the right results to the user. Nice, huh?

The best part: all of this takes place locally, on the user's device, rather than in the cloud. The news will appear for us on macOS Sierra and iOS 10. Let's wait!
