New version of OpenShot is available for download.

The new version of the video editor has been released for download. Openshotcoming in version 2.4.2 and bringing bug fixes, program improvements and 7 new effects to apply to videos.

O Openshot It is known for being a very simple video editor to handle and for making basic video editions and can export them to the most popular formats in the market, besides using the library. FFmpeg which brings you very good versatility. It also multiplatform, having versions for Linux, macOS and Windows.

The news starts with two features added by the team:

Automatic Audio Mixing – This feature will automatically adjust the audio volume. The feature is disabled by default, but you can enable it in the "clip property" section and adjust it to your liking.

Automatic Rotation – This feature will be very useful for those who shoot, for example, with the phone upright and as soon as you add the video in OpenShot, it will automatically correct its position. This also goes for photos.

Another really cool news is the possibility of using "experimental" codecs by FFmpeg and LibAV, besides the standard audio codec will be the AAC, which makes creating video more compatible between different operating systems.

Now speaking of the new effects, only 7 and can be combined with each other, only:

Bars – Creation of cinematic text box effect or boundary of a vertical video;

Colors Shift – When applied, makes an anaglyph style change in color RGBA;

Crop – Enhancement in a specific video segment;

Hue – Adjusts the Matrix of a video or image;

PIxelate – Allows you to "pixelate" an entire video or part of it (also applies to images);

Shift – Creates a motion block from an image or video;

Wave – Applies the ripple distortion effect to images.

Each effect was created from scratch for OpenShot 2.4.2 and all are fully "keyframable" and can be combined with each other.

In the project blog they list the other improvements, which are many, accessing this link. Here we list the most important.

To install via terminal, you will need to enter the following commands:

sudo apt install openshot-qt -y

Or if you prefer, download the AppImage on the official OpenShot website through link , to run the application just double click, note that it is also necessary to check the "execute" option in the file properties.
