«The Phantom Writer» («Ghostwriter»)
One of the series already available in the service gained, a few days ago, a featurette (kind of trailer interspersed with testimonies from the cast / crew and behind-the-scenes images). Check out:
When a ghost haunts a neighborhood bookstore and begins to release fictional characters into the real world, four children must come together to solve an exciting mystery surrounding the ghost’s unfinished business.
“The Phantom Writer” is a remake of the original series that aired on PBS between 1992 and 1995. The series is one more – along with «Helpsters» and “Snoopy in Space” – dedicated to children.
«Servant»
Changing the theme completely, the series led by M. Night Shyamalan won another trailer – this one focused on the creation of Jericho, the fake / realistic baby who plays the role of protagonist.
By M. Night Shyamalan, «Servant» follows a Philadelphia home in mourning, after an indescribable tragedy creates a dilemma in the marriage and opens the door for a mysterious force to enter his home.
The series will be the first major Apple TV + debut after the service’s launch on November 1 – it will be available on Thursday, 11/28; there will be 10 episodes of 30 minutes.
«Slow Horses»
There is still a lot to debut on Apple TV +, but that does not mean that the company is not working to expand its catalog more and more. The proof is that, according to the The Holywood Reporter, Apple gave the go-ahead for a new drama series called «Slow Horses».
The production will be based on a series of eponymous books by author Mick Herron, and starring none other than Gary Oldman.
The story revolves around a team of British intelligence agents from the department entitled Slough House, of MI5, in which ex-spies are deployed after their careers fail. Oldman is set to play Jackson Lamb, the spy leader for the Slough House who wants to return to the world of espionage by doing absolutely everything necessary.
«Slow Horses» will be written by comedian Will Smith, who has worked on «Veep» (from HBO). Producers include Graham Yost, Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Gail Mutrux and Douglas Urbanski.
«The Morning Show»
One of the darlings of Apple TV + is already renewed for the second season – in fact, the series was born with an already confirmed sequel (but that’s a detail).
Kerry Ehrin, executive producer and writer on the series, spoke with Variety about the possibilities surrounding the second season’s narrative, since the first flirted with something very current and real: sexual harassment at work, heavily influenced by the #MeToo movement.
As the second season will open in November 2020 (just around the time of the American elections), the Variety questioned whether this theme could be part of the plot. Ehrin denied it, giving a very logical explanation: the script is being written now and filming will begin next; so, anticipating something like this is very complicated.
You can’t do current politics, so my idea is that if you deal with politics, you deal with political issues. I call it «adjacent current», where you are not aging historically when dealing with a specific thing, but you can take the spirit of what is happening in the world and do something with those themes.
