New Pixel Qi multi-touch screens look great for Apple's new tablet

A small company called Pixel Qi recently announced that it will start producing a new model of LCD screen, claiming that it supports multi-touch gestures. Created by the former CTO of the One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) project, they will be great for tablets with eBooks functionality, as they enable low power consumption, easy visibility of content against sunlight and full color support.

There are old rumors that this startup Apple would be allied in the production of a tablet with this type of screen, as both companies have some connections in the sector. Pixel Qi's vice president of engineering, a former Cupertino employee, where he will produce a new generation of displays, used on iPhones and iPods touch.

The thing is clearer in Pixel Qi's official article on the subject, in which she clarifies that the first units of her production of iro screens for specific tablets with support for multi-touch gestures, scheduled for launch in the first half of 2010. Coincidentally , it is believed that the Apple product will be launched in this period, not to mention that there are already speculations about the technology of its screen being similar to that of the iPhone.

However, the partnerships entered into by the company in this area are expected to be revealed before the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) begins, which is likely to include no official Apple announcement. Still, the fact that Pixel Qi's screens have a very attractive technology and are 10.1 inches (one of the speculated sizes for the alleged iTablet) contributes to a partnership between it and Apple already underway.
