New Mozilla Firefox 68 arrives with big news and more

Mozilla Firefox 68 launched with night mode in read mode and native but not enabled PiP mode.

Mozilla Firefox, one of the most popular browsers for surfing the internet, received a new version on 68th Tera (9), coming with some new features and improvements to its engine.

New Mozilla Firefox 68 arrives with big news and more

We can start by saying that protections against Cryptominerers and Fingerprinters (digital identity trackers) have been added in the content control preferences, in the strictest option, Privacy and Security.

For those using Windows 10 and AMD GPUs, you can now use WebRender.

A number of security bugs have been fixed, webcam access and microphones now requiring an HTTPS connection, in addition to support for the Windows Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) which allows a Firefox update to continue even if it is closed.

Now the big news of this version 68 of Firefox. Let's start with Dark Mode in read mode, with more options for you to use. When the site has this option enabled, as you can see in the GIF below. In the addons part, we have two news. The first is that it will be possible to generate a problem, performance and related report directly in about: addons.

Still within about: addons, there is a redesign, thus making it easier to access information about the addons you have installed in Firefox.

One last thing about addons, including the Recommended seal, as it happens in the Android store. Here the addon gets the Team Choice badge.

Now a new feature that was not commented on in the release, but was implemented without much fanfare, is the native PiP (Picture in Picture) in Firefox 68. For some reason it is not enabled by default, but it can be easily enabled as shown. in the GIF below.

The path taken was: Type about: config >> search the search bar for media.videocontrols.picture-in-picture.enabled

That done, just close and reopen Firefox. To enable PiP, simply go to a compatible service, such as YouTube, and double-click the right mouse button until the Picture-in-Picture option appears and enable it.

Remember that bugs or inconsistencies may occur, as we have modified Firefox from its default, but so far everything has happened normally.
