New MacBooks Air beat performance of several netbooks and ultraportable PCs with Windows

We’ve seen several benchmarks of the new MacBooks Air (1, 2, 3), but none of them compared them to equivalent PCs. THE PCWorld took care of that and showed that the new “compact laptop” from Apple beats several netbooks and ultraportable PCs available on the market.

In the WorldBench 6 test (which runs routine tasks on the system, such as using Adobe Photoshop and Mozilla Firefox), the MacBook Air 11.6 ″ of 1.4 GHz scored 74/100 well above the average of the tested netbooks, at 45/100 .

Even in games, the new MacBooks Air are hard to beat. The machine ran very well with titles like Call of Duty 4 and DiRT 2. Perhaps the negative aspect of the Air is its battery; the LT2118u Gateway, for example, reached 11 hours of autonomy (more than double the offer of Ma).

The same test was carried out with ultraportable PCs: again, the 13.3 ″ Air with 1.86GHz did not go badly in the face of the competition, scoring 90/100.

In this case, the MacBook Air's battery life was close to that of its competitors, reaching an average of 5.5 hours.
