In a team that is winning it doesn’t move, which is probably why the iMac, one of the most iconic projects in the history of Apple, has basically the same face for 11 or 16 years, with a little more permissiveness in this criterion.
Its current design, however, is already showing its age, with large borders around the screen and lines that start to diverge from the current language adopted by Apple. How do you preserve this iconic look while creating the iMac for the next decade? That was exactly the question asked by the designers Viktor Kdr and Patrik Borgatai. And the answer can be seen below.
For the concept, the designers clearly took several lessons from the Pro XDR Display. We have here a kind of new version of the Pro Stand, with floating height adjustment and straight lines, which with some changes to make it simpler and, with some (v) hope, cheaper than the R $ 8,700 charged in the version for the Apple professional monitor.
The body of the iMac itself would undergo fewer changes: frontally, the computer would gain slightly more square lines and have the edges around the screen dramatically reduced. In profile, it is possible to see that the iconic round shape of the piece was maintained, but with a reduced thickness.
Kdr and Borgatai even thought about the internal layout of the new computer, with two huge fans occupying the entire upper portion of the machine and a selection of doors very similar to what we have today.
If the designers' proposals are in line with what Apple has in mind for the next generation of iMacs, however, we will still have to wait a little longer for rumors that Ma will update its all-in-one line of desktops in Soon, but we don't know if the new version will bring design changes.
