Users of Macs Pro who need high graphics processing power can now be happier. Earlier this week, Apple introduced a new NVIDIA graphics card model, the EVGA GeForce GTX 285, to its online store.
The new GeForce, which will be compatible with models Early 2008 and Early 2009 Mac Pro, has 1GB of GDDR3 memory and 240 processing cores, in addition to a price set at US $ 450, with delivery expected between one and two weeks. The card also has two dual-link DVI-I ports and has a maximum digital resolution of 2560 × 1600 pixels at 60Hz.
Tests of benchmark from the PC version indicate that it easily outperforms the top model of its competitor, the ATI Radeon HD 4870. However, for now only the ATI model offered as an option when purchasing a Mac Pro through the Apple online store. Probably, Ma will also start to market the NVIDIA model as a configuration item as soon as it starts to be distributed.
