New campus? Data center? Apple buys 174,000m² of land in San Jose, near Cupertino

Apple is really growing. Those who have participated in an MM Tour or traveled to Cupertino on their own have seen how the company dominates the city's buildings. But in addition, it also has offices spread throughout the neighborhood including San Francisco, where it recently rented a space for the first time.

Apple in San Jose

Incidentally, this is one of the reasons why she is building a new campus (Apple Campus 2, which has an area of 260,000m): to allow around 14,000 employees (many of them spread out over different buildings) to work under one roof, increasing the collaboration of the teams.

For now the Silicon Valley Business Journal reported that Apple acquired a space of 174,000m north of San Jose, for $ 138 million. A few weeks ago, she rented another 27,870m (a building already built) practically next to this land.

The fact that Apple bought the location and not rented it shows that the company's interest is large or that it is willing to have more control over what it plans to do there. As the space is not small, we can imagine that something important will be built in San Jose (perhaps a new campus, a research and development center, a data center, among other options).

Nathan Donato-Weinstein (a journalist responsible for the story) sought out Apple representatives to better understand the company's plans, but has yet to respond.
