New Box Drive feature allows cloud service users to access their files directly from the desktop

One of the most used cloud services in the world, especially by the business segment, the Box is announcing today a novelty that will make the storage devices of thousands of users breathe relieved.

O Box Drive its main mission is to facilitate access to files (which often reach thousands or millions in companies) deposited in the cloud without the need to work in a browser window, all done on the desktop itself.

The solution initially appears more or less like something like iCloud Drive: Box creates a folder of his own on the computer and, inside, the user has access to all files in his account (whether personal or business) . However, the big difference here is that these files do not take up space on the machine's HDD or SSD: only when the user opens one of them to edit it does Box download the data and do the streaming of the file; when you complete the changes and save it, it is automatically sent to the cloud and deleted from local storage.

In this way, even users who participate in large business groups, with tons of files stored in the cloud, will be able to access them all directly from the computer, in an integrated experience with all files saved locally. With that, as CEO Aaron Levie said to TechCrunch, companies can save a lot of money in the IT sector, eliminating the need to create their own file sharing networks.

Box Drive works on Windows and macOS, and is now available in beta for all users. It will always be a free resource, whether you are a business or “ordinary” user. Nice news! 😃
