NEC launches new chipset that triples the speed of the USB 3.0 standard

If you were already excited about the first promises to evolve the USB 3.0 standard, amazing: NEC was able to develop a new chipset that triples the data transfer speed of the interface, reaching up to 16Gbps (about 2GB / s).

The "current" 4.8Gbps are already ten times higher than what we are used to in USB 2.0, and it is not surprising that Apple itself already considers the implementation of the standard in future Macs.

If things work, plans for USB 4.0 should have their numbers updated.
