NASA plans to land the InSight spacecraft on Mars this Monday. This is the first landing of an unmanned spacecraft on the red planet since the arrival of the explorer Curiosity. Almost seven months after its launch, InSight's turn to land on Martian soil, and the American space agency is preparing various ways to broadcast the event online.
The exhibition starts from 17h, with the expectation of the landing around 17:40. The transmission will be made via social networks, the Agency's website, streaming services and the official NASA app for Android and iPhone (iOS).

Unlike Curiosity, finding life on Mars is not within the scope of InSight's mission. Its objective is more related to obtaining information that helps to plan future efforts to send humans to the red planet. A new round of exploration of possible life forms in Martian rocks is scheduled for 2020.
The type of InSight landing cover has a strong influence on the 482 million km distance between Mars and Earth. This Monday's broadcast will basically focus on confirming all landing procedures, until the landing is completed. The signal confirming the safe arrival of the probe is expected to arrive shortly after 6 pm.
Before that, however, several stages must be completed, according to the second from the beginning of the descent. InSight's challenge is to pass unscathed into the rarefied Mars atmosphere at a speed of 19,800 km / h. The ship is programmed to decelerate to 8 km / h in a short time to allow the landing without damage. The probe is valued at $ 993 million.

The transmission should extend for the rest of the day, since information coming from the land probe will take hours to arrive. It will only be possible to know, for example, if the robot's solar panels were successfully activated at around 10:30 pm. The first image of Mars can be received by NASA and transmitted to the entire world only on Tuesday.
The data is sent via two satellites in the orbit of Mars that monitor the probe's actions: two miniaturized ships from the Mars Cube One project sent for the purpose of assisting the InSight mission.
