Apple chooses a weekly Movie of the week at the iTunes Store, whose purchase (even in 4K / HDR, depending on production) R $ 9.90.
The title selected this time was “Maria Madalena”, with Rooney Mara and Joaquin Phoenix.

Here is the synopsis of the film:
Directed by Garth Davis (“Lion, A Journey Home” and the series “Top of the Lake”) and set in the Holy Land, in the 1st century AD, a young woman (Rooney Mara) leaves her traditional family and her small fishing village, to join a radical new social movement. Leading the way is a charismatic leader, Jesus of Nazareth (Joaquin Phoenix), who promises that the world is changing. Maria craves a new way of living and an authenticity that is denied by the rigid hierarchy of the time. As the group’s notoriety spreads and more people follow Jesus ‘inspiring message, Mary’s spiritual journey puts her at the heart of the story, taking her to Jerusalem, where she will confront the reality of Jesus’ destiny and her own place next to him.
As usual, our reader Renato Alan Promenzio [@tripalavra], who is a movie buff, also sent us a comment about the film:
With Christmas coming, Apple chose the right Movie of the week. These are passages / stories like that of Maria Madalena, who from time to time receive new clothes in order to reach new audiences. The script is simple, the cast has Joaquin Phoenix – which as always is a separate show – and Rooney Mara, rising star. Now, taking it to the relaxed side, my definitive Christmas film is undoubtedly “Duro de Matar”. ? And yours, what is it?
