In addition to App of the week, (almost) every Thursday Apple chooses a Movie of the week, whose purchase is only $ 3. The title selected this time was District 9, produced by Peter Jackson.
Check out his trailer:
Here's what Apple says about the movie:
Shot in South Africa in the not-too-distant future, District 9 shows a dark dystopia in which a race of refugee extraterrestrials, who stumble on planet Earth, are relegated to terrible conditions in camps while humanity struggles to come to terms on how share the world. Filled with special effects and thought-provoking themes, District 9 is the first film by visionary filmmaker Neill Blomkamp.
As usual, our reader Renato Alan Promenzio (@tripalavra), who is a cardholder, was also willing to send us a personalized comment about the film:
District 9 of those films that takes time to like and understand, but its final balance is competent and direct. The film, in addition to launching the director himself, who later in another production would direct no one less than Matt Damon, is extremely dedicated and highlighted the reality in South Africa knowing how to criticize his economic situation, changing from social, racial to extraterrestrial strata . The production was supported by Peter Jackson as a producer, who is a film fanatic sci-fi, and had good reception of criticism, but the public not so much. I remember seeing it in theaters and being very empty. I recommend that you watch and wait, as Blomkamp will re-record the classic Alien, the Eighth Passenger that will be produced by Ridley Scott.
