Motorola announces Defy, the water and dust resistant Android

Motorola today announced Defy with Motoblur. It is a high resolution Android 2.1 touchscreen smartphone, equipped with advanced navigation features, such as Adobe Flash Lite, which makes it possible to view your multimedia content at a higher level than that provided by standard browsers.

With a slim design that fits comfortably in your pocket, Motorola Defy is the toughest among Androids: withstands water and dust, sudden rain, spilled drink or even a fall in the sand. The large 3.7-inch screen also supports scratches, ensuring a better viewing experience.

Equipped with all the features that consumers expect from a smartphone, Defy also features advanced navigation, entertainment and messaging features, with a design that supports some everyday situations, like rain and dust, without compromising its usability, he said. Sergio Buniac, senior vice president, Motorola Mobility.

Motorola DEFY also comes with the evolution of MOTOBLUR, which makes it easier to manage e-mails, messages and social network updates directly on the home screen. The new version features customization filters for updates and contacts; resizable widgets; security, through a portal that stores personal data and contacts, in case of loss and theft; and a battery and data manager that optimizes the experience according to the user's profile.

The launch also comes with CrystalTalk PLUS technology that brings two intelligent microphones that eliminate background noise and amplify the user's voice, making conversations clearer; and brings a 5 MP camera with flash, digital zoom and auto-focus.

Motorola DEFY offers the Connected Media Player, which finds the lyrics of the songs that are playing and allows you to find, buy and download songs from the device itself. The user also has access to more than 80,000 applications, widgets and games from the Android Market, and Google services, including Google Search, Google Maps and Gmail.

Availability

DEFY will be available in Brazil from the end of October. For additional information, visit http://www.motorola/defy.
