More than 30 US community colleges will include Swift in their grades starting next school year

A few months ago, within the initiative “Everybody Can Program” (“Everyone Can Code”), Apple launched a one-year academic course called “Apps Development with Swift” (“App Development with Swift”), designed by Ma educators and engineers with the aim of offering the first contact of students adept in the area of technology with the programming language. Along with the launch, the company announced, on that occasion, a partnership with six community colleges in the United States that would offer the course in their curriculum.

Well, apparently it’s expanding very quickly: Apple today announced on its website that more than 30(!) new US community colleges will adopt the curriculum starting in the next school year, starting in September. Among them, one of the largest American technical education institutions, the Austin Community College District (ACC), which teaches the course to more than 74,000 students.

Austin Mayor Steve Adler gave a brief statement about the newness of Apple itself:

We are excited to see Apple join our mission to make Austin more accessible to everyone who already lives in the city. Apple will be a multiplier force in this ongoing community effort to lift 10,000 people out of poverty and put them in good jobs over the next five years.

The mayor's speech naturally has to do with the character of community colleges, a type of educational institution that would resemble our technical courses and receives great federal incentives, offering, in some cases, totally free courses and aimed at lesser layers. favored of the population.

Tim Cook also spoke about the new step of the initiative:

We saw firsthand how the Apple ecosystem has transformed the global economy, creating whole new industries and supporting millions of jobs. We fervently believe that the same opportunity should be given to everyone, and community colleges have a powerful reach in communities where education becomes the great equalizer.

In addition to the Texas institution, other community colleges joining the Apple program include Northeast Mississippi Community College, Northwest Kansas Technical College and Alabama Community College System.

The excellent business for the community and, of course, for Apple after all, the more professionals gain familiarity with the Swift universe from an early age, the greater the chance that they will focus on the Ma ecosystem, buy their products and produce beautiful creations for iOS, macOS and company.

The curriculum, as is well known, is also available on the iBooks Store for apprentices who have the tenacity of self-education or for teachers who want to introduce the concepts of Swift in their classes.
