More details emerge about the Steve Jobs Theater, such as a rotating elevator and R $ 43,000 seats!

A new Apple TV. A new Apple Watch. “IPhone 8” and “iPhone Edition”. Apparently, we will officially meet all these new figures in less than a week, in Apple's next keynote. However, the most formidable “product” that we will be formally introduced to next Tuesday, say, a little bigger, heavier and more expensive.

Ma's next conference, as you may have read some five hundred times, will be the first held in the ninth (and indeed appropriately named) Steve Jobs Theater, the Apple Park auditorium. Earlier today, we already shared a video showing the work practically finished; now, a report from Bloomberg revealed more interesting details about the theater that, like the other spaces on the new campus, presents a profusion of innovative architectural solutions, extremely perfectionist design decisions and, of course, a ridiculously high budget for absolutely everything.

The general structure of the auditorium has long been known in this post, which will soon complete its fifth anniversary, showing several virtual models, plans and cuts of the project. O hall entrance, which is the only part on the floor level, guarded by huge curved glass panels that support the roof, a huge silver disc that gives an air of an unidentified alien object to the design theater that perfectly complements the main building of Apple Park , which we affectionately call “spaceship”.

This upper space does not contain any elements other than those responsible for directing visitors to lobby on the lower level: two stairs that slide at the ends of the circle and two elevators that, in the case of Apple, obviously could not be ordinary elevators. The entrance and exit of the lifts are in opposite directions, but Ma certainly thought it would be very “common” to use cabins with two openings and decided to invest in models made especially for her, with cabins that rotate while going up or down in this way, visitors come and go through the same door.

Arriving at lobby, which guards the entrances to the auditorium itself, we have another jump of the cat: retractable walls that hide part of the space. This is a solution designed by Apple and the studio Foster + Partners which allows the company to organize its new product demonstrations and hide them elegantly until the presentation is completed. In other words, we can say goodbye to black cloths; journalists who are keynotes at the Steve Jobs Theater will see a space at the entrance and another completely modified at the exit with just the touch of a button.

The auditorium itself is capable of 1,000 people little for an event open to the public, such as WWDC (which will surely continue to be held in other larger venues, such as convention centers), but a number significantly expanded in relation to the Town Hall auditorium, at Ma's current headquarters in Infinite Loop, which has 300 seats.

As we have seen in these photos (above) shared on our Instagram, the auditorium space does not bring great architectural or stylistic revolutions if it is possible to revolutionize the architecture of an auditorium, that is. That said, I must highlight a very impressive aspect about the theater: according to the budget of the work, Apple spent US $ 14 million on the auditorium seats alone. Considering the capacity of 1,000 people, yes, this is what you heard: every journalist who attends Apple's next keynotes at its headquarters rests his ass on a $ 14,000 seat, or approximately $ 43,000 each.

Certainly, many other details as well as the final appearance of the interior of the theater will be revealed in the keynote itself, next week. We hope that the products presented there will be at the height of this fascinating space, right?
