What better way to start a day of Stevenote than with rumors? Let's go by parts: first, the Engadget obtained more details of the new 11.6-inch MacBook Air and the source would have been one that played for a few minutes with the machine in person.
In addition to the smaller screen, this MBA would have a 2.13GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor (with option for up to 2.33GHz), 2GB RAM base, Mini DisplayPort, USB and SD card reader on one side, MagSafe and USB on the other (two USB ports, therefore), the same thickness as the current Air and a small black on / off button to the right of a reduced eject key on the machine's keyboard.
The latter may be a design decision that confirms such instantaneous ligament capabilities, but it may also be the most unfortunate in Cupertino's history, as I keep squeezing the eject by mistake because it is on the key delete turning off a computer when you want to erase text sounds like pure different. I hope to be mistaken. In any case, the source of the Engadget used the little Air with Mac OS X 10.6.4, and maybe that's why it didn't have anything instantaneous when turned on.
Now, let's go to another "Oops!" from Apple. As the MacRumors, some providential tweaks to the URLs of Apple's discussion and support forums revealed very official topics for products that don't yet exist. Best of all, they're still in the air! Cupertino's people changed the forum titles, although the links still work. Check below images from before the change and links to each one:
GarageBand ’11 forum
IMovie ’11 forum
IPhoto ’11 forum
MacBook Air forum (needs an official name)
Frum reserved for October 20
Did you notice that today we are going to see the iLife ’11 suite? And probably some MacBook Air so new that will need a discussion topic just for him (besides an official name who knows "MacBook Air mini", hehe)? And what will occupy this “reserved space”? I would bet on a topic about Mac OS X 10.7 Lion, especially if developers have access to some beta version of it today.
In any case, these questions will be answered in a few hours. Be sure to check out our coverage starting at 2:45 pm (for the summer time)!
