More about the Apple Watch Series 5: interference with the compass, extra strap on the Edition model…

THE Apple Watch Series 5 was announced almost a week ago, at the last special Apple event, and will hit stores next Friday.

We detail here all his changes in relation to the Series 4 and we also made an article focused on the advantages and disadvantages of the new titanium model, but there are still other little details that deserve to be highlighted.

Compass interference

A new component within the Apple Watch Series 5 is the compass, which will mainly improve the use of maps by the watch – but it will also be beneficial for augmented reality apps, for example.

A Reddit user noted, however, that certain Apple bracelets contain magnets that can interfere with the compass’s operation (nothing exclusive to the Apple Watch, of course) – and the company reports this in fine print on the corresponding pages.

Among the “affected” bracelets are the Milanese style, the leather and the modern clasp. Good to keep that in mind, therefore.

Extra bracelet on Edition models

Perhaps in connection with the “problem” above, Apple decided to include in the boxes of the new Edition models (titanium or ceramic, as well as the special Hermès line) an extra sports bracelet, in addition to the one chosen by the customer.

The color of the extra bracelet is always in line with the main one, as shown in the example above.

Apple Watch Series 5 on AR

Like the iPhone 11, the Apple Watch Series 5 is also available for those who want to play with augmented reality on the Apple website.

New dial for everyone

Here’s a good surprise: the new dial Meridian (Meridian), demonstrated in the Apple Watch Series 5 launch keynote, was included by the company in the version Golden Master (GM) of watchOS 6 also for users of the Series 4 generation.

Likewise, new Nike + dials that will come with the Series 5 will also be released to owners of Apple Watches Nike + fourth generation.

That’s good! ?
