.Mobi and .jobs domains with preliminary approval from ICANN

The entity responsible for assigning domain names to the Internet gave its preliminary ok to two of the eight proposals it has under consideration. This decision pre-admits the .mobi domain that will give shelter to projects that are mainly dedicated to the exploration of matters related to the limitations of mobile phones in terms of image, memory, battery or others.

In the case of the .jobs domain, the second with pre-approval from the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Number, the objective is to create a domain aimed at the labor market that serves to identify projects in the area of ​​human resources. After this decision, a period of negotiations begins with the entities interested in making the new areas possible, which may take a few months and result in the final approval of the proposals, or not.

In addition, ICANN is considering six other new domain name proposals that may join the current 250 domains. Other proposals include the .asia and .xxx domains.

Before the pre-approval now known, the same happened with two other domains, .travel and .post, which together with .jobs and .mobi now enter a final evaluation phase.
