MM Answers: how to solve the absence of media in the Finder sidebar?

How to resolve the absence of media in the Finder sidebar?

When an import / export dialog box appears on your screen, you will usually find it at the end of it Music, Photos and Movies, which you should point to your respective libraries on your Mac.

When you click on attach a file, media items are displayed and easily selected to be added to a message.

Resolving the Macintosh HD indexing problem

If you didn't find any files when you clicked one of these items, don't despair! Some users may have reference problems with their libraries, usually caused by some type of corrupted indexing in the Spotlight search.

Below are the steps to correct the problem:

  1. Open System Preferences.

  1. Select the "Privacy" tab.

  1. Click on the “+” (bottom left) and add the Macintosh HD to the list of items that Spotlight should not search for.

  1. Confirm in the message that you want to prevent searches on the Macintosh HD.

  1. Now remove the Macintosh HD from the list by selecting it and clicking the "".
  2. Ready!

After this process, your HDD / SSD will be indexed again by the system and the problem with the Finder sidebar is solved.
