Ming-Chi Kuo bets on brand new AirPods coming in 2020

There were those who believed in the second generation of AirPods coming this year, but at this point in the championship it is very unlikely that we will see any significant Apple launches occurring in 2018.

Today, the famous and well-established analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, from TF International Securities, brought alleged information about Apple's future plans for its wireless headsets which, he says, are on their way to becoming the most popular accessory in the company's history, jumping from 16 million units sold in 2017 for 100 million by 2021. "IPhone owners today are more likely to buy AirPods than to upgrade their phone," he says.

According to information obtained by Kuo, we will see in the first quarter of 2019 the arrival of a new case with wireless charging for the current AirPods. He did not even cite AirPower in his report today, but it seems that both products should be launched together, as they were also announced together in September 2017.

For the beginning of 2020, yes, the analyst expects the arrival of “totally new AirPods”, with a renewed design and new features. He did not bring any details, but the rumors here speak of greater resistance to sweat, the possibility of new gestures and support for the command "E a, Siri".

Corroborating the fact that he always fishes information in Apple supply chains, Kuo mentions that these new AirPods should adopt a new internal component with a “rigid-flexible” plate, more expensive to produce, a new hinge for the case and updates in the Bluetooth specification.

In short, for anyone who was holding on to purchasing AirPods for fear of new ones arriving at any time, buying the current model does not seem like a bad idea. This relying on Kuo's information, obviously.
