Microsoft's Build 2020 and Apple's WWDC 2020 unchecked because of Covid-19

Microsoft announced today in a statement the cancellation of the physical edition of Build 2020, and Apple ended up doing the same with WWDC, after many rumors that pointed to the postponement.

The stage of the programmer's conference of the Redmond giant moves from Seattle, in the United States, to the internet, on the same dates that were already defined: from 19 to 21 May.

"The safety of our community is a priority.

In light of the health security recommendations for Washington State, we will be hosting our annual Microsoft Build event for programmers digitally, rather than an event with people," the company said in the statement.

"We hope to bring our ecosystem of developers together in this new virtual format to learn, share and program together.

Apple's developer conference, the World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) was scheduled for June, but the company decided not to take a chance and turn the event into a purely online presentation. "The current health situation has required us to create a new format for WWDC 2020," explains Apple in a statement.

in this event that Apple normally presents new products, and new versions of its operating systems, and this year the possibility of launching a new iPhone that would replace the iPhone SE was looking forward to.

The two conferences thus join a long list of cancellations or postponements already announced in the technological universe – and not only -, and also a list of those who, like others, opted for the digital version.

The same will happen with this year's edition of the Game Developers Conference, which will have an online version, based on a series of free streams and recordings of the talks that were planned for the 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th of March.

The E3 organization also opted to cancel the event that took place in June and also have the digital variant on the discussion table.
