Microsoft announces Surface Book 2, now with 15-inch version to hit harder with MacBook Pro

Almost a year ago, the Microsoft has updated its Surface Book with timely improvements: Intel's new generation i7 processor, new NVIDIA GeForce graphics card and a new cooling system to handle the crash.

Today, she upgraded for real on the line now named Surface Book 2. In addition to promising significant performance gains and excellent battery life again, the new generation of Microsoft's laptop / tablet hybrid has now gained a 15-inch model to hit the MacBook Pro more.

Surface Book 2 incorporates the eighth generation of Intel Core chips and dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 or 1060 graphics cards which, according to the company, deliver up to 5x the performance of the first Surface Book and “twice as good as MacBook Pro”. They go up to 16GB of RAM, just like Ma's laptops.

Microsoft is promising an incredible 17 hours of battery life for Surface Book 2 during video playback which, if needed, is 70% more than Apple's promised 10 hours for the TouchBook MacBook Pro. screen that has 45% more pixels, by the way.

The two-in-one PC comes with two USB-A ports, one USB-C, an SD memory card reader and 3.5mm headphone jack. Both are slightly heavier than MacBooks Pro: the 13.5 ″ weighs 1.53kg (compared to Ma's 1.37kg), while the 15 ″ weighs 1.9kg (1.83kg).

Microsoft begins pre-selling the new machine on November 9, with the first units shipped a week later. Prices for the 13.5 ″ model will start at $ 1,500, while 15 ″ prices will start at $ 2,500. In terms of price, Microsoft really seems to be walking hand in hand with Apple.
