Microsoft Announces New Office App That Rene Word, Excel, and PowerPoint | Productivity

Microsoft announced on Monday (4), the release of the new Office mobile application, which merges Word, Excel and PowerPoint in the same environment to facilitate the use of all productivity services. In addition to all existing functions in current programs, other features have been incorporated to enhance usability, such as a new quick access panel. The app is available for testing Android and iPhone (iOS) users.

Anyone can use the features of the new Office application for free without signing in. However, if you want to store and access your files in the cloud or use different profiles, you will need to sign in with Microsoft credentials. According to the company, the new application reduces the need to switch between various applications during use and decreases the consumption of space in the phone's memory.

From the main screen, the app allows the user to start their tasks from a menu with three main actions: take quick notes on Sticky Notes, scan documents and photos through Office Lens, and access the text, spreadsheet and presentation editing screen. . The home page also displays a history of recently edited documents.

New features of the app include taking a photo or document and turning it into an editable Word file with just one tap. The same is true for printed tables, which are automatically transformed into Excel spreadsheets when photographed. PowerPoint, in turn, can help the user create a presentation easily after selecting images on the phone.

The app also lets you create PDFs with your phone camera, using photos from your device or in documents, and signing PDF documents using your finger on the screen. You can also scan QR Codes and share files between phone and computer instantly.

Microsoft says current standalone Word, Excel, and Power Point applications will continue to function normally. The company says that, for now, the new service is available only on mobile phones, but will soon be released also for tablets.
