It is obvious that after Apple announced the failure of the AirPower, several manufacturers would run after the technology that Apple “let go”, starting a dispute between themselves. In this sense, we comment on the options of Nomad, AirUnleashed and, now, PITAKA.
PITAKA is known for using and abusing magnetic resources, and the company already sells several cases for iPhones with warranty protection by magnets and wireless chargers with this technology. In the newly released MagEZ Bar, however, the manufacturer decided to counter gravity by creating a wireless charging base that can be adapted vertically (on a wall, for example) to recharge your gadgets – without them falling, of course.
PITAKA’s aim with MagEZ Bar is to help you never lose your essential items or forget about them at home, precisely because they would be in a place where you would see them. According to the manufacturer, the strong magnets incorporated into the base design ensure that all items are kept safely; Besides gadgets, it is possible to fix keys and basically any metal object to the accessory.
Unlike the AirPower idea, however, the PITAKA base has specific places that offer wireless charging – two points, more precisely: one 5W and the other 10W, which work simultaneously. The rest of the base is made of magnets, which allows you to affix any other magnetic items.
The MagEZ Bar also comes with a mounting bracket that makes the installation process even simpler, in addition to having USB-C ports on the sides of the base so that you can attach it in the best environment for you.
Now, time to throw the bucket of cold water: the MagEZ Bar requires some of PITAKA’s magnetic cases to function; that is, you cannot “stick” your iPhone or the AirPods case (second generation or Pro) to the base, because it will not stick. So, if you already have a PITAKA case for the iPhone / AirPods, the MagEZ Bar can be a good solution; otherwise it will be necessary to purchase, in addition to the base, the case for each of the devices compatible with Qi charging.
The MagEZ Bar is available for $ 150 (more expensive than the AirPower is supposed to cost) in the PITAKA online store. Other products and accessories from the manufacturer are also available on Amazon.
