A Turkish Airways plane crashed last February in the Amsterdam region of the Netherlands, killing nine people and wounding 121. One of these was Sefer Baris, who survived a crash on his MacBook Air.
A friend of Sefer's told the Macenstein that the guy was in an armchair at the front of the aircraft, seventh row. When the plane started to descend, he was watching a movie on Air; it was the one that closed the laptop and put it inside its case. A few minutes later, the impact with the ground occurred.
Sefer broke his neck in the accident, but some operations have already given him the opportunity to walk and communicate normally again. Meanwhile, the aluminum monobloc structure (unibody construction) from Air ensured that the machine continued to function (almost) perfectly, removing some dents and a part of the destroyed screen.
I'm sure AppleCare will do a good job of recovering Safer, as long as the hospital takes care of surviving Air with a new housing.
