Mac edition of the powerful Radeon HD 7950 graphics card presented

The current generation of Macs Pro slightly updated in June last year comes with the ATI Radeon HD 5770 graphics card, but they can also be customized with an ATI Radeon HD 5870, both very old and with “mere” 1GB of GDDR5 memory.

Apple did not adopt the Radeon HD 7970, but this week a new one was introduced (Google Translate) at CeBIT 2013 (in Hanover, Germany) that could be a strong candidate for future Apple professional towers.

Radeon HD 7950 graphics card

Sapphire Technology, the largest video card provider to AMD (Advanced Micro Devices), announced the Mac edition of Radeon HD 7950, which comes with a clock 850MHz (with Boost to 925MHz), 3GB (!) of GDDR memory with 384 bit interface, 240GB / s bandwidth and clock of 1.250MHz memory.

Obviously, such a card depends a lot on software that makes intensive use of the machine's GPU in its processes, but, in general, the difference is much more noticeable in the case of heavy games.

Apparently, the suggested price of the new card will be $ 450, but it will also require two six-pin out connectors, which will cost $ 25 each.
