LXQT – New Graphical Interface Available for Lubuntu and Derivatives

Meet the new LXQT graphical interface.

QT's junction with the LXDE environment

Linux users now have one more graphical interface option, especially those with low-resource machines.

The project is a kind of junction between the RazorQT it's the LXDENow we have a system with more possibilities and lighter. The LXQT project wasn't really new, it had been under discussion for a while, the first record we have of him here on the blog It is July 2013, but only now, almost a year later, that there is not much time for a graphic environment project, we have the opportunity to test it in a real district.

This environment should equip Lubuntu in the future and so we can install it using unstable repositories, this is also good for Ubuntu but it is good to recommend that many packages contained within these repositories are still under test and this can give you a lot of trouble.

To test, open your friend terminal and paste the following commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa: lubuntu-dev / lubuntu-daily

sudo add-apt-repository ppa: gilir / q-project

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install lxqt-metapackage

For more information and articles on how to install in other distros you can find in LXQT official page.

See you next time!
