Even before Apple made the death of the AirPort line official, it had already started – in mid-January – the sale and promotion of the Linksys Velop Mesh Wi-Fi System. Because the Linksys has just launched a more affordable version of this system.
THE Velop Dual-Band Mesh WiFi System it has one band less than the other, supporting only the traditional 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands – but, still, enough for the vast majority of residential setups.
The three-base kit will cost $ 300, but anyone who doesn’t need it all can purchase a pair for $ 200 or abandon the idea of mesh and get one for $ 130. Of course, in this case, the thing will only work well in small environments and without many barriers.
The system is IEEE 802.11ac with MU-MIMO, reaching 1.300Mbps (AC1300) adding the two bands. The setup promises to be quite simple and fast, and can even be done by an iOS app.
The new system dual-band it is not yet on sale at Apple, but most likely it will start selling it too soon – especially now that all AirPorts have been discontinued.
