Note: Many of the features listed here may be present in the LG G3, so not everything will be new to everyone. Also, probably many Android users will be able to take advantage of this list as well.
1 – How to customize the virtual buttons
The G4 virtual buttons help a lot in the software experience, especially for those who use the dual-SIM version, as the device has a specific button to change the chips. However, many users are unaware that LG software allows the exchange or customization of such buttons.
2 – Take advantage of accessibility options
Google offers interesting Android options for those with special needs, be they audio or visual. G4 software, like G3 software, has a huge range of features that can benefit any user, regardless of their usage needs.
First, all you have to do is go to the G4 accessibility menu by following: System Settings> General> Accessibility. Within the "Vision" option, for example, you can find interesting features such as guided reading (by voice) according to the touch of the screen, including app and system notifications. In addition, zoom options and screen color adjustments are also available.
6 – How to change the default messaging application
If you don't like the native messaging app from LG or Android, you can always choose to use a third party app and select it as a default. To do so, simply access: Settings> Device Gesture> Default Message Application and select the app you want to use for messaging.
7 – How to disable LED / notification light
On the front of the LG G4 we find an RGB LED notification light that flashes to receive incoming messages, emails, missed calls and more. If you, like me, are bothered when the notification LED flashes at night with the dark room, then turning it off can be of great help.
To do so, access: Settings> Sound & Notifications> LED Light> click to disable.
8 – How to use two applications at the same time
The multi-window feature is one of the highlights of LG and Samsung in my opinion, especially on handsets with screen diagonal above 5 inches. This software function allows the use of two applications at the same time and can save time.
To open two apps on the LG G4 screen, click the multitasking button in the navigation bar, then the "double window" option and select the apps you want to use from the list offered by the system. Before you can use this feature, be sure to enable it at Settings> General> Smart Functions> Double Window.
9 – How to activate the camera quickly
Like the Moto X 2014 and Galaxy S6, the LG G4 has a quick shortcut to the camera from any screen, including the lock screen. So to activate the camera quickly, just double click the button to decrease the volume.
10 – How to hide lock screen information
If you are the reserved type, you will prefer to hide your notifications from the lock screen. To do so, access: Settings> Display> Screen Lock> Screen Security> Select Screen Lock> PIN. Enter the numeric PIN and check Hide all notifications.
11 – How to enable power save mode
Power saving modes are getting better and better and are already coming as a native option of the Android system. To enable power save mode on the LG G4, go to: Settings> General> Battery and Power Saver> Power Saver and enable the feature using the key at the top right.
Once the mode is turned on, when your smartphone reaches 5% or 15% battery power and the screen goes dark, the data will be turned off (ie you will be offline).
12 – How to use smart lock
With Android Lollipop, Google now offers Smart Lock, which allows the use of screen locks like knock code and PIN only when needed. So when you're at home or at work and you don't see the need to unlock your screen every time you use your smartphone, you can choose between trusted devices, places, face and voice, as well as body detection.
To do so, activate a screen lock like knock code, pattern, pin or password, and then within the screen lock settings, click Smart Lock and select a trusted device or place.
13 – How to use fast upload
Thanks to Qualcomm's Quick Charge 2.0 technology, the LG G4 can charge faster than older devices. Like Motorola and Samsung, LG promises 6 to 8 hours of use with just 20 or 30 minutes plugged into the Quick Charge 2.0-capable charger.
It turns out that LG does not offer the adapter in the handset kit, so it will be necessary to buy a third-party charger.
14 – How to turn the device into a hotspot
Turning your LG G4 into a Wi-Fi hotspot, also known as a hotspot, allows other devices to benefit from your internet connection. To do so, access: Settings> Networks> Link> Wi-Fi hotspot> and enable the option on the switch located at the top right of the screen.
15 – How to use Smart Settings
To give you a better experience with the LG G4, the South Korean manufacturer offers the smart function "Smart Settings". With it, you can activate or deactivate a series of settings automatically when arriving at predefined places, such as home, or by connecting accessories to the device.
To use this feature, you first need to enable the "My Places" feature in Settings> General> Local. Done it in Settings> General> Smart Functions> Smart settings You can activate which smart settings you want.
