Learn to customize your favorite contacts and their shortcuts on iPhone

IOS has many features, among which is the possibility of personalizing contacts. You can configure the contactsfavoriteswith shortcuts that facilitate communication with people through the preferred medium: message, email, FaceTime, telephone, among others.

In the favorites list you add the contacts with whom you interact most. And it is not just for phone calls and SMS, but also for other means: like WhatsApp, Telegram, Duo, Skype …

You can access the shortcuts to the favorites list in two ways: through 3D Touch on the native ‘Phone’ app and through the widgets screen.

Create your favorite list

1 When opening the Phone app, tap the ‘Favorites’ tab.

2 Touch the ‘+’ symbol in the upper left corner.

3 Find the contact you want to have in your favorites and tap it. Choose the shortcut you want: phone, FaceTime, email, SMS, or any third party application, if it is already available.

When you return to the favorites screen, you will see the contact you just added. To add more, repeat the above process. And to sort or delete one from the list, use the ‘Edit’ button in the upper right corner.

Adding instant messaging apps to your contact

In addition to the native options, it is possible to add third-party instant messaging applications, such as WhatsApp, Google Duo, Skype, Facebook Messenger, among others …

1 Open a contact and tap ‘Edit’ in the top right corner.

2 Find the ‘add instant message’ option. Then, tap it for a new field to appear.

3 By default, ‘Skype’ appears. But just tap on the name and choose another app. In the image below we use WhatsApp. Then, fill in the field with the person's number and finish by tapping ‘OK’.
