LaCie announced on Monday two new storage systems attached via the network (Network-Attached Storage, or simply NAS): 2big Network and 5big Network, with prices starting at US $ 320 and US $ 800, respectively.
The first is a two-bay RAID system that supports up to 4TB of capacity. It comes with Windows Active Directory Support (ADS) and local backup capabilities, accompanying Intego Backup Manager Pro client licenses for Mac and being compatible with the Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard Time Machine. The product offers a Gigabit Ethernet port, UPnP and DLNA support, among others.

The 5big Network, in turn, brings five drive bays hot-swappable supporting up to seven RAID modes. It is the first product to break the barrier of 10TB (!) Of capacity, offering a Gigabit Ethernet connection, compatibility with UPnP-AV and DLNA devices. It is capable of transmitting multimedia content (audio and video) to compatible game consoles and televisions, in addition to being able to function as an iTunes server.
