LaCie launches new portable SSD with USB-C, resistant to falls

If you’re always on the go and need a portable SSD to do the job, the French hardware maker LaCie – known for the line of external HDDs rugged – presented its new drive with a drop-resistant USB-C port and high transfer, editing and backup speed.

Compatible with both Macs and PCs, the SSD has a USB-C port and comes, in addition to the USB-C cable, also with one that has USB-A output. With the USB-C interface, it enables file transfer at speeds up to 10GB / s.

Overall, the reading speed can reach 540MB / s, enough to transfer an hour of 4K video at 30 frames per second in less than a minute; the recording speed reaches 500MB / s.

Despite its robust features, the LaCie portable SSD delivers on the promise of its surname: it is one of the smallest and lightest external drive options in the company, and easily fits in a purse or backpack – the 500GB model fits even in your pocket , according to the manufacturer’s advertisement.

LaCie pointed out that this model is suitable for users who travel and need durable SSDs; therefore, it has resistance to falls of up to two meters – the MacRumors tested the device and, after a few drops, found that the external disk did not suffer any damage.
