Kuo: Apple may launch MacBook Air with Apple Silicon this year and Pros of 14 ″ and 16 ″ in 2021

Even before WWDC20, when Ma officially presented the Apple Silicon (its chip to equip future Macs), much is said about which will be the first models to win the new processors. Among the rumors, it is speculated that the MacBook Pro be the first of this new lineage what can happen this year, as ventilated by Ming-Chi Kuo.

Now, the TF International Securities analyst has put even more into perspective: according to him, it is also expected that a MacBook Air with Apple Silicon go into production with the already mentioned MacBook Pro, with a possible launch also planned for this year or, at the latest, first quarter of 2021.

Also according to Kuo, Apple could launch a redesigned line of MacBook Pro with versions of 14 and 16 inches. It is worth remembering that an update on the design of the 13 ″ model was expected this year (following in the footsteps of the 16 ″ MBP, launched at the end of 2019), however, according to Kuo, this would have stayed even for 2021 which is in line with what TrendForce pointed out this week.

We expect Apple to launch new MacBook models, including the new 13.3 ″ MacBook Pro with Apple Silicon in the fourth quarter of 2020. The new MacBook Air equipped with the Apple chip could be launched in the fourth quarter of 2020 or the first of 2021, while the new 14 ″ and 16 ″ models of the MacBook Pro with Apple Silicon and new design would stay for the end of the second quarter of 2021 or the beginning of the third.

Unlike what he had suggested last month, Kuo said that the costs of Macs with Apple Silicon could be reduced, allowing Apple to lower the entry price of MacBooks, especially Air. However, the analyst points out that he is not aware of the marketing plans of the company and the market prices that it can practice.

Kuo did not speak, however, about the launch of a 24 ″ iMac with chips from Intel. As we reported, it is expected that Ma's desktop will get a new design, but that the Apple Silicon roll-out will presumably happen only next year.

Finally, Kuo analyzed the MacBook market and pointed to an increase in sales of Ma's notebooks in 2021; according to him, the company can sell 18 to 20 million units growth in relation to expectations for this year, which 16 to 17 million units.
