Counting steps is possible using the free Pedometer app, which is available for Android phones. The tool is useful for anyone who wants to stay active or would like to lose weight. The iPhone, on the other hand, has a low-power chip that remains active all the time and records each user’s step. The monitoring of activities can be performed using the Health app, which is native to the system.

In the following tutorial, check out how to use the Pedometer app on Android and Health on iOS to monitor your steps. The procedures were performed on a Moto E5 Plus with Android 8.0 Oreo and an iPhone 8 running iOS 12, but the tips apply to other Apple devices and phones with the Google system.

Step 1. Download the Pedometer from dnetc. When opening it for the first time, choose your gender and tap «Next». Then, set your height and weight and tap «Start»;

Step 2. The application will then begin to count your steps. It is not necessary to keep it open on the screen. The tool maintains a permanent notification and continues to function in the background. Touch the green button in the upper right corner of the screen to access your achievements, history, reset or disable the counter;

Step 3. In the «Report» tab, you will find the summary of steps during the week. Touch «More» to see the number of steps in the day. Use the buttons at the bottom of the screen to switch between the number of steps, calories, hours of activity and distance traveled;

Step 4. In «Health», you can record the amount of water you drank, see your weight and body mass index (BMI). Go to «More» to change the daily step target and movement sensitivity, record your weight and access the application settings.

Step 1. Open the «Health» app, which is native to the Apple system. On the app’s home screen, on the «Today» tab, tap on the number of steps. At the top of the screen, you can switch the view to day, week, month and year. Right below, use the arrows to switch between days;

Step 2. Touch the «+» button in the upper right corner of the screen to add data manually. Enter the date and time and fill in the number of steps and tap «Add» in the upper right corner;

Step 3. In «Show All Data» you can access the list with the number of steps per day. Tap on a day to see the number of steps per hour;

Step 4. Open «Data Source and Access» to see which applications are authorized to read and write steps. Below, you can see the devices and apps used as the data source. Touch a device or application for more details.
