Judge overturns Apple's $ 625 million conviction in VirnetX case; new judgments are scheduled

The novel of the case Apple vs. VirnetX, which seemed to have been completed a few months ago with a rather triple end for Ma, is back in the spotlight to Cupertino's delight.

Robert Schroeder, United States federal judge (Tyler, Texas), defined that Apple no more having to pay the $ 625 million to which it was condemned. He decided that the case should be revisited because the last trial was “unfair”, in his own words, since the paperwork of the case contained more than 50 references to the legal dispute prior to this $ 625 million decision itself was a second trial. , which may have confused the jury.

Now, both companies will have to resubmit in court to prosecute and defend themselves. There will be two judgments, and the first is scheduled for the day September 26.

VirnetX, often described as a typical patent troll, saw his shares plummet an absurd 44.6% after the judge's decision and declared, through a chief executive, that he is "disappointed and reviewing all options" to win Apple again in the new trials.

The case has been going on for more than four years, when VirnetX first accused Apple of infringing its patents on products like iMessage and FaceTime, and rekindled an old debate over the effectiveness of US patent law that is far from finished.
