Japanese company Ibiden will use 100% renewable energy in its production line dedicated to Apple

Apple today announced that one of its suppliers, Ibiden, became the first Japanese company to use 100% renewable energy in all its production for Ma.

We are proud to partner with suppliers like Ibiden, who recognize that investments in renewable energy are good for the environment and for business. As we continue to encourage our global operations to have 100% renewable energy, it is more important than ever that we help our industrial partners make the same transition to cleaner sources and set an example for other companies to follow.

Renewable energy at Ibiden, Apple's supplier in Japan

Ibiden manufactures printed circuit boards and integrated circuit packaging used in Apple devices. With this initiative, the company produces more than 12MW of solar energy, contributing to Japan's efforts to limit its carbon emissions.

The supplier's plans include new installations of renewable energy, including one of the largest floating photovoltaic solar systems, a way they found to not occupy as much land space, as every precious meter in the small country.

It is neither the first nor the last company to adapt to renewable energy policies thanks to Apple. In fact, Ma has already led more than 93% of its worldwide operations to commit to a more environmentally friendly production style.

By the end of 2018, the Cupertino giant and its partners (including China's Lens Technology) are expected to generate more than 2.5 billion kilowatt hours per year of clean energy.
