The Independent Institute for Information Technology Security, AV-TEST, Magdeburg, Germany, tested 22 anti-virus applications for Android. 21 of the applications tested received a security certificate and 5 received a very good rating.
VIPRE Mobile Security was the only app that didn't pass the test. All other apps have met the minimum requirements and most can be downloaded for free.
The parameters used in the test were anti-theft security, parental control, backup options, secure internet browsing, message filters, encryption, among other elements. Applications capable of blocking unwanted SMS messages and calls scored extra.
