IPPAWARDS 2019 awards the best photos taken with iPhones

Another year, another award from the iPhone Photography Awards The 12-year-old contest for photographers (and aspirants) honors some of the most talented iPhone users around the world.

As usual, thousands of images were sent to this edition of the award, which was attended by people in more than 140 countries, including Brazil, Portugal, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

In addition to the main category, the contest is divided into subcategories that reward even the best portraits, panoramas, among others. O Grand prize this year was delivered to the Italian Gabriella Gigliano, with the image “Big Sister” (Big Sister), captured by an iPhone X in Zanzibar (Tanznia).

IPPAWARDS 2019: GabrielaLast year I spent a month in Wasa, Tanzania, teaching classes to curious and amazing young people. Before returning to Italy we stopped in Zanzibar, where this picture was taken. I still wonder how I managed to capture this moment in all its beauty. I was just watching, a few feet from them, but they were probably more curious about me than I was about them, and maybe that's why the girl was looking at me. We couldn't talk much except for a few Swahili words I had learned in the previous weeks, but these kids could definitely talk with their eyes. It was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen in my life, and I will remember that forever. The best part was showing the picture to them and their mother, as for some of them this was the first time they had ever seen each other, and their excitement was inexplicable. Unfortunately my iPhone was in their hands at that time and I couldn't capture it!

Meanwhile, first place in the category Photographer of the Year was given to the Portuguese Diogo Lage, which recorded the image “Marine Stripes” (Sea Stripes) with an iPhone SE at Santa Rita Beach in Portugal.

IPPAWARDS 2019: DiogoThe photo “Marine Stripes” was taken at Santa Rita Beach in Portugal, where the striped beach tents are very typical and characterize the small summer villages. With this beach climate, a bather in the distance incorporates this spirit into a striped shirt.

Directly from Brazil, the photographer Gabriel Ribeiro took third place in the category News / Events with the image “Wedding Prayer” (Wedding Prayer), clicked with an iPhone 8 in the city of Dourados (Mato Grosso do Sul).

IPPAWARDS 2019: GabrielI photographed this wedding with my father in Dourados, Mato Grosso do Sul. During the religious ceremony, each person kneels to hold a prayer with everyone present to bless the marriage.

Here is also the category winning image Portrait: the photo “A Future Guide Hunter” (“The Future Eagle Hunter”), recorded by bareinite Mona Jumaan with an iPhone 7 Plus in Monglia.

IPPAWARDS 2019: MonaIn the province of Bayan Ulgi in western Mongolia, hunting guides are a tradition that spans generations. The boys start training at the age of 11, and little Bakha is no exception, who makes his entry into the hunting world with his precious falcon.
