On December 5th (also known as tomorrow), the iPlace will perform a workshop with a very cool purpose: to assist parents and guardians in creating and managing rules to restrict children’s use of iPhones.
THE workshop will take place in all 142 iPlace stores in Brazil by a team of specialists in Apple solutions; the content is curated by Marília Guimarães, of UnderstandingPhone (who participated in the MacMagazine On Air # 340).
The idea is to show features that can help children get the most out of the iPhone’s entertainment and learning potential, but in complete safety.
THE timing it’s good because we are at the end of the year (Christmas) and many children / teenagers end up winning iGadgets as a gift. And, if that happens, the parents will already be able to implement the knowledge of the workshop.
Specific settings will be taught as features to prevent purchases from the App Store, allow or disallow integrated apps and features, avoid explicit content and check content ratings, restrict Siri’s internet search, limit Game Center usage and more.
According to a recent survey by the AppGuardian application, focused on parental control, children spend an average of 5.7 hours a day on their cell phones during the week; on the weekend, the time goes up 20%, reaching 6.9 hours a day.
Here is the statement of Marília, iPlace ambassador:
Parents know that smartphones are actively present in their children’s lives, as part of their daily lives. Thus, using resources that can control this use is a great alternative. This is technology helping the responsible use of technology. IPlace is also concerned with the best use of the mobile devices it sells, and, in this way, wants to assist its customers in the responsible use of the solutions acquired, which includes child care.
Only then can we protect them from probable cybercrime and issues, promoting safe use. The ideal is to know the games and YouTubers preferred by the children, organize the routine of use, avoid dependence on technology and keep the dialogue always open.
THE workshop “Restriction for those who share iPhone with children”Will take place tomorrow, December 5, at 7 pm, in 142 iPlace units spread across 25 states in Brazil.
